Music Review - Chiodos

I have been a fan of the band Chiodos since I first heard their album Bone Palace Ballet. Let me preface by saying I am NOT a fan of “screamo” or whiny vocals and to some extent this band possesses both of those characteristics. That being said, what I really enjoy about Chiodos music are their arrangements and progressive guitars. The keys and strings weave together subtle layers of intricacy between the vocals and guitars. At times the piano and strings take front stage which really heighten the emotional urgency of the singers plight.

Chiodos latest album Illuminaudio is exceptional. Illuminaudio is a refined culmination of Chiodos first two albums, All’s Well That Ends Well and Bone Palace Ballet. The lyrics still exhibit the same fantastic poetic tenor from the first albums. The guitars remain progressively gritty and counter balance the melodies of the vocals, keys and strings with a voracious apetite. Illuminaudio feels deliberate and organized compared to the prior two albums. I can’t stop listening to Illuminaudio both in the car and in head phones.

Support the artists you enjoy. Buy their medium when you like it. I encourage you to give Chiodos a listen.

In an effort to make a positive change, cheers to writing more everyday.

I feel like I have a grasp of Macro Econ from my summer class but I fear I may not receive a passing grade. Total burn. I scored poorly on my first quiz, better on my second and okay on my third. I really need to manage my time even better than I am already am. Working full time and trying to keep up with my studies is difficult. I need to make better habits. Hence the previous post.

Add to that, COC doesn’t want me as a student. Period. I was dismissed from COC for taking a W in a class I didn’t even know I was enrolled in. I guess I should have been more attentive to my schedule. I am not the scholastically adjusted student I once was. I have a LOT of work to do. Here is to putting my head down and my shoulder to the grind.

VIDEO: World first for solar mobile charger

A group of Serbian university students has created the world’s first public solar-powered mobile phone charger, installed in a town outside Belgrade.

It led to the team winning a prestigious European Union prize for their efforts as the BBC’s Belgrade correspondent Mark Lowen reports.
